The Online Branding Forum - March 24-25, 2002
Dubai, UAE - 13 March, 2002 (PRN):The Dubai Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Smart Management Business Center (SMBC) have joined forces to host the Online Branding Forum, an unprecedented 2-day event scheduled for March 24th - 25th, 2002.
The Branding Forum-the first of its kind to tackle the issue of building brands online-consists of a full program that includes speaker presentations, interactive discussions and workshops.
Ayman Al-Haj, the general manager of SMBC said that the speakers at the forum will bring the breadth of their North American, European, Australian, Asian and Middle Eastern brand building experience to the 2-day event. Among them are Martin Lindstrom, who is recognized as one of the world's primary online branding gurus, defining ten groundbreaking Internet-branding rules in 1995; and Dr. Paul Temporal, an Oxford professor, whose services have been employed by companies like the World Bank, Texaco and British American Tobacco.
Mr. Ahmad Al-Banna, the Assistant of the Director General at DCCI said that 'The Branding Forum' represents a small step forward in recognizing the importance of national brand building, to reach world-class quality standards ready with the right investments in technology, and to emphasize the importance of accountability and success, as always led and supervised by H.H Shiekh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and the UAE Minister of Defence.
The concept came about in part to tackle reasons why roughly 80% of the Middle East's online shoppers turn to vendor's abroad. Analysts give numerous reasons; chief among them is the lack of brand focus in the region despite an explosion of electronic business-to-consumer, business-to-business and government ventures. The support infrastructure available at the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Dubai Ideas Oasis represent an important catalyst for e-commerce; yet it is incumbent upon the marketing community to explore and encourage the right tools for building strong regional brands.
