New-look Global Village at Dubai Festival City during DSF 2002
Dubai, UAE - 05 March, 2002 (PRN):The Dubai Shopping Festival is the world's largest family festival and has attracted millions of visitors from across the globe since its launch in 1996.
The unique combination of the world's best brands at the world's best prices, world-class entertainment, sporting events and daily prize raffles have combined to make DSF the biggest event of its kind in the world.
One of the main attractions of the Dubai Shopping Festival is the Global Village where people from all over the world come together to display their culture and heritage through exhibitions of traditional handicrafts, clothing, music and dance.
Almost 30 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Far East are taking part in the Global Village this year, which has moved to a new, purpose-built location on the site of Dubai Festival City.
Dubai Festival City, a Key Sponsor of DSF 2002, is being developed by Al Futtaim Investments as a new landmark for Dubai which will combine entertainment, dining, shopping, a marina, hotels, offices and residential components when the first phase of the multi-million dollar development opens in Spring 2005.
The 1,200 acre site along 4km of the Dubai Creek from the base of Al Garhoud Bridge has been specially chosen to host Global Village 2002 which will be bigger than ever before.
Each participating country has crafted its own pavilion which represents the very best of what their nation has to offer, making a trip to the Global Village a cultural voyage around the world for the thousands of tourists due to visit each day during the month-long festival in March.
As well as visiting the national pavilions, Global Village visitors will be able to sample foods from the participating countries by dining at the restaurants in the specially designed food court.
An amphitheatre and stage will come alive every evening with entertainment for all the family, while a fun fair and other fairground attractions will add to the excitement. The daily Dubai Shopping Festival gold and car raffle draws will also be broadcast live from the amphitheatre's stage on Dubai TV.
The Global Village also has a post office, bank, foreign exchange bureau, mosques, a health clinic, a lost and found office and toilet facilities for the convenience of visitors, as well as offering extensive parking facilities and a dedicated taxi rank.
