California, USA - 11 June 2002 (PRN): Micrus Corporation of Mountain View, CA Monday announced that Getz Bros. & Co., Inc. ('Getz') and Getz Bros. Co., Ltd. ('Getz Japan'), Getz's Japanese subsidiary, have entered into long-term agreements for the marketing and distribution of Micrus' proprietary embolic ACT MicroCoil System in Asia Pacific and Japan, respectively. Getz Japan has also agreed to make an equity investment in Micrus.

Getz Japan and Getz have started the regulatory and clinical approval process in Japan and other key Asian Pacific countries to obtain market clearance and reimbursement of all current and future Micrus products. Other terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

All partners are excited about the agreements, which offer the parties the ability to introduce innovative and proprietary products to the Japanese Asia Pacific neuro endovascular markets. "We believe Getz Japan and Getz are strong and strategic distribution partners with extensive marketing and clinical experience to successfully introduce Micrus to Japan and Asia Pacific", said Michel Mounier, President and CEO of Micrus Corp.
