Pixo Announces Mobile Download Server 3.5

PIXO

San Jose, California - June 13, 2002 (PRN): Pixo Inc. (www.pixo.com), a leading provider of wireless provisioning software systems, today announced version 3.5 of the Pixo Mobile Download Server (MDS). The Pixo Mobile Download Server (MDS) is a high performance software solution that allows operators to manage the complexity of delivering wireless Java(TM) applications over-the-air (OTA) to their subscribers.

Pixo MDS 3.5 features an advanced modular architecture that separates content aggregation, presentation, and delivery into separate Manager components. This enables an operator to centrally manage content, customize multiple subscriber interfaces, and ensure fast downloads. Key MDS 3.5 components deliver new capabilities to operators, wireless portals, content aggregators, ASPs, and enterprises:

  • Catalog Manager -- The Catalog Manager connects an operator to content providers, acts as a content repository, and reduces hurdles to sourcing and updating a multitude of content. The Catalog Manager also enables portals and content aggregators to easily distribute their content to multiple operators.

  • Vending Manager -- The Vending Manager, with multiple methods of discovery, presentation and pricing, ensures subscribers always have easy access to content when they want it. Multiple branded and localized Vending Managers can be supported from one catalog, enabling support of many operators or enterprises from one instance of the software.

  • Fulfillment Manager -- The Fulfillment Manager controls and delivers content to subscribers through a high performance and cost effective download architecture. The Fulfillment Manager protects subscribers from un-certified content and also ensures that subscribers have paid for the content they are requesting.

The advanced architecture and features of MDS enhance system performance, operator return on investment, and the overall user experience.

"With the release of Pixo MDS 3.5, operators, wireless ASPs, enterprises, and content developers will be able to rapidly build a profitable Java ecosystem with a moderate investment," commented Dave Rothschild, president and CEO of Pixo.

Pixo MDS is platform independent and integrates into an operator's existing infrastructure by providing APIs for billing systems, WAP gateways, messaging platforms, and subscriber profiles. Pixo MDS is built upon the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE(TM)) framework and industry-leading software and hardware from BEA, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, and Sun Microsystems for carrier-grade scalability and robustness. The high performance of Pixo MDS is unmatched in the industry today. About Pixo, Inc.
