Harland Partners with OutSource Management, Inc., to provide e-statements to Financial Institutions

Atlanta - July 18, 2002 (PRN): John H. Harland Company (NYSE: JH) is partnering with OutSource Management, Inc. (OMI) to offer electronic statements to Harland direct marketing customers as an optional add-on to its printed statement production, both companies announced today.

The Harland and OMI partnership combines Harland's strength in the financial services arena and OMI's experience in providing e-services to Fortune 5000 companies to offer Harland financial institution clients electronic communication management for strategic and traditional transactions such as statements. In addition to its direct mail, check and statement printing services, Harland now will be able to provide clients the ability to deliver statements, marketing materials and email management to their accountholders via the Internet.

Industry trends reveal that accountholders increasingly want the convenience of electronic access to their financial information. With Harland's e-statements, accountholders can view and print their statements online. Hyperlinks in the HTML image contain promotional messages that, when clicked, take accountholders to promotional pages on their financial institution's web site.

Financial institutions benefit by the reduction of costs and improvement in customer support, and gain a more efficient, positive image with their customers. Accountholders are more satisfied because they receive their information faster, efficiently and in a manner that gives them flexibility over paper processing and postal systems.

Together, OMI and Harland can provide a full-circle approach to communication outsourcing for financial institutions.

The e-statement service has been integrated with Harland's ULTRADATA offerings and Stratics™, Harland's Analytical Services behavioral models. This combined service will show in a measurable fashion the effectiveness of the financial institution's customer interactions. The service will analyze, store and provide reports on all activity that takes place over the financial institution's web site.
