Sydney, Australia - August 12, 2002 (PRN):ThumbAccess Biometrics Corporation announced today the cementing of an exclusive joint venture with CW Technology, LLC of Detroit, USA which will enhance ThumbAccess' retail payment solutions known as ThumbPay Biometric Solutions.

ThumbPay, as the name suggests, provides Biometrics Payment Authentication and Point of Sale Solutions to retailers and enables the consumer to purchase goods and services from participating retailers through simply presenting their Thumb as the payment mechanism rather than using credit cards. This consequently brings to retailers the option to reduce credit card fraud and provide a superior level of convenience and security to their customers.

The strategic alliance between ThumbAccess Biometrics Corporation and CW Technology, brings to the market a fully featured POS solution integrated with a Biometrics Payment mechanism using the ThumbSecure patent pending biometrics authentication and payment platform.

How it works:

Consumers register their Thumbprint Templates along with their Credit Card information which is subsequently biometrically encrypted and stored in a highly secure Biometrics Database Vault* within a "Trusted 3rd Party" environment ensuring private independence. This allows registered customers the freedom to make purchases at any participating retailer world wide, via the use of the consumer's personal Biometric being their Thumb. Your thumb you do not forget; cannot be copied or lost only to be found by others, so the security is excellent for customer peace of mind. This same security reduces fraud for the retailer.

At the checkout, the Customer presents their thumb, which is scanned and an algorithmic template is compared to their original registration stored in the ThumbVault. As there are no images of the print made at any stage, Consumers can be assured that information cannot be reversed or used for any other purpose. Along with presenting their thumb, the Customer also enters their QAN© (Quick Access Number) as both providing a speedier method of cross match and also a secondary level of security.
