Former Centerfold Teams Up With the Reverend Ray Buchanan to Save Thousands of Homeless Children ![]() Aspen, Colorado - 5 July 2002 (PRN): Susie Scott Krabacher, a former Playboy Centerfold, started 8 years ago in the tumultuous country of Haiti taking care of abandoned children left homeless in the streets and slums of the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Today this self-taught humanitarian is President and Founder of the Mercy and Sharing Foundation, a non-profit that cares for nearly 2,000 children in its orphanages, schools and clinics. Krabacher spends her days educating the world "how to" bring life saving hope to the poorest of the poor. Krabacher has been featured in People magazine (twice), the Miami Herald, the Washington Post, Stern Magazine (twice), Marie Claire, Redbook, Chicago Tribune, the Denver Post, the Canadian Post and the San Francisco Chronicle, the LA Times. Susie's work has also been broadcast on the Oprah Winfrey Show (twice), Good Morning America, Inside Edition and Fox television in Cleveland, Miami, Salt lake City, and Denver. "Aspen's Angel for Haiti" the Denver Post calls Krabacher. The Aspen Times headline in the World section says "She made the Children Believe in Angels". Diane Sawyer quoted on "Good Morning America" maintains " It's hard to believe, but she IS for real". On July 17th, 2002 Susie and Reverend Ray Buchanan, President and Founder of Stop Hunger Now will travel to Mongolia to the capital city of UlaanBaatar to begin a new effort. There are thousands of orphaned and abandoned infants and children living in the sewers beneath the streets of this city of 600,000 people. Krabacher and Reverend Buchanan want to establish temporary shelters while they raise funds to build permanent homes for these children now surviving in the steamy warmth generated by the filth beneath the city. "Most die before the age of 5 from respiratory infections, severe malnutrition and dehydration from diarrhea" says Krabacher. This unlikely pair intends to gain support from the government of Mongolia in the form of donated land to build and maintain an infrastructure to keep these children out of the "sewers" and off the dangerous streets that they now call home. Susie is a relentless advocate for children, and was the recipient of the prestigious 2000 "International Humanitarian Award" from the National Association for the Advancement of Haitians in Washington D.C. In June of 2002 Krabacher was awarded Honorary Haitian Citizenship for her role in saving thousands of children and providing employment to well over 100 Haitian citizens. As Susie likes to say she is "everything from President to Chief Janitor" for M&SF. She spends nearly every waking hour working on the kids, and draws no salary. All expenses of administration of the M&SF affairs in the US are contributed by Susie and her husband.
