Brighton, Colorado - July 2, 2002 (PRN):Improving on current Patent Pending technology, for Bio-Static coating of fire sprinkler pipe and petroleum tubing and casing, WHI USA, Inc. incorporates Flash Rusting inhibitors to protect ferrous iron, and non-ferrous metals from general oxidation forces as well.

"When we introduced Par-Guard™ FPS to protect fire sprinkler pipe from MIC (Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion) bacterium corrosion, it was a great break through in the FPS Industry. Par-Guard™ FPS has a proven track record now, of stopping sprinkler head plugging and the creation of pinhole leaks within fire sprinkler systems. However, the formulation did cause 'flash rusting' to occur when applied to new pipe and tubing during manufacturing,"

Doug Chartier, President of WHI USA continued, "We began to research the problem and soon found that it was inherent to the formulation, as it contained a needed surfactant to clean the surface before the actual coating took place. Upon further examination, we learned that the clean metal surface was exposed, for rapid oxidation, a split second before the coating applied itself to the pipe and tubing. This problem was also noted in dry fire sprinkler systems when applied to existing FPS systems, but not in wet systems."

WHI USA, Inc has developed a Patent Pending bio-static, flash resistant coating marketed under the name Par-Guard™ CC to overcome this problem.

"Actually, the flash rusting problem has proven to be the doorway to an improved product which has many industrial applications. After eight months of research, we were able to come up with a formulation that not only was Bio-Static and protected against flash rusting, but also protected against oxidation and rust for a long term period and was transparent when applied to metal.

This gives applicability to not only fire sprinkler piping and oil & gas casing and tubing, but wherever there is a need to protect a metal product during storage or usage against nature's corrosive forces.
