Chicago, USA - 01 May 2001 (PRN):On May 5, 2001 Wally Findlay Galleries in Chicago will host a private reception for the former Chief of Staff to Ronald Reagan, Donald T. Regan. This reception marks the opening of the recent exhibition of Regan's paintings entitled 'A Salute to America'. This exhibition will continue through June 10th, 2001.

For the past two years Wally Findlay Galleries has been the exclusive representative of Donald T. Regan. Regan was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1918 and graduated from Harvard University in 1940 with a BA degree in English. He then joined the US Marine Corps, from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel at the end of World War II. He joined the firm, now known as Merrill Lynch & Co., in 1946. He became President of Merrill Lynch in 1968, the youngest man ever to hold the post and, in 1971, was selected as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. By 1980, Donald T. Regan had led Merrill Lynch to compete with the nation's largest financial institutions. The company slogan was: 'We're Bullish on America'.

As Chief of Staff to President Reagan from 1985 to 1987, Mr. Regan directed the day-to-day operations of the White House. He was the President's senior advisor, serving as a designated member of the cabinet. He was closely involved in structuring domestic and foreign policies that helped Ronald Reagan achieve historic success as President.

Regan also served as the sixty-sixth Secretary of the Treasury and was in the forefront of formulating and implementing the Reagan Administration's economic policy for four years. In 1981, he played a key role in the shaping and eventual passage of the Economic Recovery Tax Act, and in 1982 played a major part in the shaping of national tax legislation. He was charged by the President to develop the Administration's program to reform the nation's tax system, enacted as the Tax Reform Act of 1986. He also headed the Cabinet Council in Economic Affairs, and was the Administration's chief economic spokesman.

Subsequent to leaving the Reagan Administration, Mr. Regan published his memoirs, 'For the Record: From Wall Street to Washington'. The book was number one on the New York Times Book Review Best Sellers list and received considerable media attention. It has been described as ...what is, in official Washington, a genuine rarity: an honest book.

Regan served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange, and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. He also wrote, A View from the Street, published by New American Library.

This current collection of paintings by Regan, represents the energetic talent which he has devoted in his new career. No matter what the subject - landmark lighthouses, the Florida coast, historic buildings or the Virginia countryside - Regan executes his paintings with a surprisingly vivid palette creating a charm and honesty that captivates the viewer and instills a nostalgic friendship with his art. This recent group of paintings by Regan shows the diversity of his subjects and includes many scenes of Historical Sites.

The Butler Museum of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio purchased one of Regan's paintings for their permanent collection after he was honored as chief artist in a juried exhibition of artists from all fifty states. An avid history buff, Regan also enjoys painting historical locations and buildings in and around Williamsburg. In 1996, he donated one of his Williamsburg paintings to the Junior League which issued a very successful limited-edition print to raise funds for the organization. Wally Findlay Galleries presented Mr. Regan's first exhibition in the Palm Beach Gallery in January, 1999. Later on that year the Galleries hosted an exhibition of paintings in the East Hampton Gallery during July. New York city hosted an exhibition in May of 2000. The Chicago Gallery is proud to host the latest exhibition featuring recent paintings entitled 'A Salute to America 'featuring original paintings by the Honorable Donald T. Regan.
