KartOO Signs Two-Year Agreement with Overture

Overture's Pay-For-Perfomance search results will appear on www.kartoo.com

Clermont-Ferrand, France - Jan 22, 2003 (PRN): KartOO, the new generation French meta-search engine, announced that it has signed a two-year agreement with Overture Services, Inc., the leading provider of Pay-For-Performance search to Web sites across the Internet on its U.S site. Under this agreement, Overture’s Pay-For-Performance search listings are displayed on the left hand side of kartoo.com search results page.

Overture's search listings are generated by its base of 73,000 advertisers who bid for placement on keywords relevant to their business. The company’s editorial team carefully screens these listings before they are distributed to its affiliate partner network, which includes MSN, Yahoo! and Lycos. Overture currently operates Pay-For-Performance search networks in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Japan.

About KartOO

Crushing the page barrier:

Last week, KartOO has received the award of "Best Search Engine 2002" by Computer Shopper Magazine.

KartOO allows a real time and general overview of entire results, as well as the possibility of refining your results with a simple click.

KartOO is programmed in Flash, and an optional traditional HTML interface is also available. When a user conducts a search request, KartOO launches the query to a set of search engines, gathers the results, compiles them and represents them in a series of interactive maps through a proprietary algorithm.

The graphic presentation shows the 10 (or the number you choose) first results as balls, its size being proportional to the relative relevance. When a user hovers on top of the ball, a short description is shown. If a user wants to see more results, they can click on the appropriate link to view subsequent ‘maps’. Unlike other meta-search engines KartOO uses semantic links between results. These links are represented by sinuous lines that link the balls. The + and - signs that allow you to add or eliminate the word to an eventual new search. Each word has a plus (+) and a minus (–) sign. Clicking one or the other, KartOO restarts the meta search including or excluding the word in the query accordingly to the sign picked.

KartOO is a technology of visual representation of meta searches. As such, the meta search engine is only the showroom of a series of products addressed to companies interested in the information retrieval of its data bases, intranet, etc.
