MightyBids.com considers ebay food drive

Montreal, QC - Aug 21, 2006 (PRN): Alarmed by the apparent need for ebay to once again take profits away from sellers for their own gain, Montreal-based web auction site MightyBids.com today announced they would be looking into the logistics of collecting canned non-perishables to donate to the struggling auction giant.

"When I'd read, recently, that ebay was showing consolidated net revenues of about $1.4-billion US, I'd thought I wouldn't have worry about them going hungry." Said MightyBids co-founder Peter Michaud. "Now I see they're raising their seller fees yet again. They must be under some financial stress. What other reason could they have for taking profits out of the pockets of the actual sellers?"

Michaud is referring to an announcement by ebay that, effective August 22, 2006, its rates for selling items through ebay Stores will see hikes of up to 400%. The rate increase for store sellers comes just months after auction and fixed-price sellers saw their rates raised for the fifth time in as many years. While ebay's and other auction-related message boards are ablaze with angry postings from irate sellers, MightyBids is calling on the public to find sympathy.

Whether or not the food drive will come to fruition or is just a tongue-in-cheek commentary by MightyBids.com on ebay's continual fee increases is yet to be seen. Unlike ebay, MightyBids.com's fee structure offers item listings, photo uploads and other key auction services free of charge, but they've also developed a reputation for their charitable side by donating 5% of all profits to environmental organisations.

Further details on the food drive would be made available at MightyBids.com
