Message from the hosts:
“Derry is the second largest urban settlement in Northern Ireland, the fourth largest on the island of Ireland, and is recognised as the regional capital of the North West region. The significance of this is outlined in both the Regional Development Strategy for Northern Ireland ‘To develop a strong North West centre on Londonderry’ and in the National Spatial Strategy for the Republic of Ireland – ‘The Letterkenny/ Derry gateway presents and opportunity for large scale co-operation.’
The ‘Walled City to Wireless City – Digital Derry project’ has been designated as the Broadband Flagship Project for Northern Ireland. This initiative is a partnership between Derry City Council, University of Ulster Magee and the North West Institute of Further and Higher Education and will deliver pilot programmes in e-tourism, e-government and e-learning. The initiative was recently recognised as the best UK wireless project at the prestigious Communications in Business Awards.
Businesses across a range of high tech industries – software, telecommunications, electronics, e-commerce and multimedia technology have found a home within the North West’s highly pro-business environment. These include Seagate Technologies, Stream International, Northbrook Technology, BT and Singularity amongst other.”
Message from Matthias Gehrken, Nokia Networks, EDIFICE Chairman
"EDIFICE is THE European B2B Forum for the electronics Industry, where benefits for its members can actually be measured. The speed with which promoted Industry standards are being adopted by all trading partners is proof of its success. On behalf of the membership, I encourage all companies who wish to speed up their B2B Standard implementations to participate in the Plenaries and to join the EDIFICE forum as a member. "
With an experience of over two decades, the EDIFICE focus on classic EDI Standards of the 1980s and 1990s has nowadays shifted towards XML technology and in particular RosettaNet Standards. This is also reflected in the agendas of the EDIFICE Plenary meetings and the roadmaps of the working groups. The combined expertise of EDIFICE and RosettaNet makes it possible for member companies to not only develop implementation guides and other valuable support documentation, but to actively influence emerging Standards.
Interested companies are very much welcome to visit EDIFICE Plenary meetings as observers or become an EDIFICE member if they want to actively contribute and share knowledge in the area of e-Business Standards setting and implementation.
