Four new bioinformatics software releases from CLC bio

CLC bio has announced four new bioinformatics software releases, positioning CLC bio as the only bioinformatics company in the world providing a full range of desktop based bioinformatics tools for both Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux operating systems – of course including Apple’s new powerful Intel-based computers.
Dr. Roald Forsberg, Senior Scientific Officer at CLC bio, states: "With the release of these four new bioinformatics workbenches, we have provided a world-class bioinformatics product line that sets new standards for desktop based bioinformatics tools – both in relation to scientific level and user-friendliness. We have sought brand new ways of bringing data exploration and integration to the desktop computer. Why? As experimental technologies in molecular biology are evolving rapidly - so should software!"
The four software releases are:
• CLC Free Workbench 2.5, a freeware program containing a number of basic bioinformatics analyses, gathered in an integrated and user-friendly software package.
• CLC Gene Workbench 1.0, including advanced DNA sequence analyses such as assembly of DNA sequence data, graphically and algorithmically advanced primer design, as well as user-friendly molecular cloning tools.
• CLC Protein Workbench 1.5, providing a long range of advanced protein sequence analysis tools such as 3D molecular viewing, protein structure prediction, transmembrane helix prediction, Motif search, and pattern discovery.
• CLC Combined Workbench 1.0, aggregating all bioinformatics tools available in CLC Free Workbench, CLC Protein Workbench, and CLC Gene Workbench in a powerful and integrated bioinformatics software package.
All CLC bio’s workbenches are based on a modern IT structure, resulting in a very user-friendly and graphically advanced user-interface.
With these four new releases, CLC bio has finalized their first complete bioinformatics product line for biochemists and molecular biologists. The product line will be ambitiously enhanced in the months and years to come.
