Message from Dr. Gary Nestor, ICT & Special Projects Business Development Manager, Business Development Directorate, University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
"The theme is intended to allow discussions around the current advances in the technology facilitating B2B, and concurrently, the changes required in organisational structures and business practices to facilitate best use of these technologies.

The event will take place in the conferencing facilities of the University's new Research Beehive. As the largest research focused University in the North East, and one of the UK's leading research universities, the University is delighted to be able to open our doors to EDIFICE.

Dickinson Dees is one of the UK's leading law firms with considerable expertise in IT and e-business matters. Dickinson Dees works closely with the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and as such is pleased to act as co-host for the 95th Plenary.

The programme and associated debate promises to be both interesting and challenging, and we already have speaker commitments from a couple of eminent university professors and some key industrialists. The plenary title was carefully selected to enable the event to cover both technical and business & organisational issues associated with transacting e-Business.

As a venue city, Newcastle has a vibrant mix of the contemporary, cultural, stylish and historic, and is famed across the world for its captivating welcome. There is a abundance of things to see and do, from the fabulous Gateshead Millennium Bridge and The Sage Gateshead, to the classical architecture of Newcastle's historic heart, Grainger Town.

This is all supplemented by the exciting art galleries and museums, sensational shops and restaurants, and extensive entertainments to be found throughout the city and its' regions."

Message from Matthias Gehrken, Nokia, EDIFICE Chairman

"EDIFICE is THE European B2B Forum for the electronics Industry, where benefits for its members can actually be measured. The speed with which promoted Industry standards are being adopted by all trading partners is proof of its success. On behalf of the membership, I encourage all companies who wish to speed up their B2B Standard implementations to participate in the Plenaries and to join the EDIFICE forum as a member. "

With an experience of almost two decades, the EDIFICE focus on classic EDI Standards of the 1980s and 1990s has nowadays shifted towards XML technology and in particular RosettaNet Standards. This is also reflected in the agendas of the EDIFICE Plenary meetings and the roadmaps of the working groups. The combined expertise of EDIFICE and RosettaNet makes it possible for member companies to not only develop implementation guides and other valuable support documentation, but to actively influence emerging Standards.

Interested companies are very much welcome to visit EDIFICE Plenary meetings as observers or become an EDIFICE member if they want to actively contribute and share knowledge in the area of e-Business Standards setting and implementation.
