Infographics – The next BIG thing to help you grow your business

An infographic takes a complex and voluminous message and condenses it into an understand image, at a glance. It is tipped to the art of visual communication in a 30 second world. This is a great way to turn otherwise ‘boring data’ into something interesting and relevant to your target audience.
It is interesting to note that 50% of the human brain is dedicated to visual functions, and images are processed faster than text. The brain processes pictures all at once, but processes text in a linear fashion, making it much longer to process information from text. Furthermore, it is estimated that 65% of the population are visual learners as opposed to auditory or kinesthetic, so the visual nature of infographics caters to a large portion of the population.
Data visualisation involves the use of five types of visualization categories: time-series data, statistical distributions, maps, hierarchies, and networking.
Part of the reason that infographics are so popular is that they tell stories. A 20 pages report on your company profile, services and performance can be depicted in one long image. People will connect with just about any subject when represented by a mixture of appropriate images, relevant facts and humour to draw them in and elicit a meaningful response.
The power of infographics lies in the ease with which they can be shared through social media channels. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, blogs and other Social media platforms can also be integrated for sharing on the internet to reach a larger audience. The leveraging power of this visual medium in going viral is unfathomable.
People tend to remember images better than text, so the more exposure your infographic gets, the more people will associate its contents with your business.
